This October, restauranteur Jaffer Kovic will open the Dilworth Tasting Room in the former 2,800-square-foot Dilworth Billiards space. The venue will serve a rotating selection of wines from around the world as well as local brews. Hailing from a family of winemakers, Kovic had his wine course at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas and learned about American-made wines before moving onto global spirits and beers.
“I am beyond overjoyed that I am able to occupy the space where Eric Sprouse, who owned and operated Dilworth Billiards for over 35 years, ran an amazing private billiards club! When I first viewed the location it felt as if the building connected with me and I knew the spot would be a tremendous hit and a special place in this neighborhood and in Charlotte,” Kovic said. “We are creating a space that will be elegant, welcoming, warm and one that will quickly become a vital part of the Charlotte community.”
The 50-seat bar will also feature an outdoor garden patio with Koi fish pond. In the mornings, restaurant will serve Stumpton coffee and pastries in the mornings and will offer an eclectic menu prepared by Croatian-born Ivana Bekavac. Dilworth Tasting Room will be open 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
